The mornings
always seem so promising
I start every day
with a clear slate
that means
I can get straight to my work
but first I have to do this
and that
and then
another thing
and then
something else
pops up suddenly
that needs tending to
NOW
and before I know it
the morning is almost gone
and I’m thinking
“the afternoon looks promising…”
